Mommy’s Night Out Cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy

Due to the weather in the tristate area, Hoboken & Jersey City, “Mommies Night Out” is cancelled 🙁

Please be safe, be smart, & have fun with your children indoors!

Bake, do arts & crafts, watch a movie, play games & have fun together.

I wish for everyone to make it safely through the storm, & smile for your children. They don’t need to know the severity of things I feel.

Explain to them what a hurricane is, and why we need to stay indoors, that’s it.

Want the best selection of balloons I have ever seen?

Then check out the Balloon Saloon from New York City!

While in TriBeCa last week, I walked past their store and was mesmerized!

It is like the candy store of balloons that is.

From small to life size, they feature the largest balloons I have ever seen in my life!

Best of all, they deliver to many places! Even if you don’t live in the area, you can get some great ideas!

If you are visiting New York City, it is a must to visit, for kids & adults too!

Check out their website, to view their masterpieces.

My favorite is their life sized leopard balloon. Who doesn’t like fun balloons?

Want to make a healthier version of French toast?

Then make it with whole wheat raisin bread!

I am always looking to make healthier versions of dishes my children like.

I found whole wheat rasin bread in Whole Foods, & Pepperidge Farm makes it as well.

You will need:
* 2 eggs (or you can use 2 egg whites)
* Splash of Organic milk, coconut, soy, rice, or almond milk
*1 tsp. of vanilla extract
*Ground cinnamon
*6 slices of whole wheat raisin bread
*Organic Canola cooking spray y

1.) Crack 2 eggs in a small bowl.

2.) Add milk, vanilla extract, & sprinkle 2 shakes of ground cinnamon.

3.) Whisk all of the ingredients until blended.

4.) Next preheat a frying pan, then coat pan with cooking spray.

5.) Dip one slice at a time into the egg mixture on either side, then put into the frying pan.

6.) Cook until brown on either side, then plate, dust with cinnamon (optional), & serve with berries.

I like to serve it with pre measured pure maple syrup, to prevent too much sugar, or over pouring!

For those who like sticks, cut them into four strips.

Enjoy another healthy dish!

Want a fun way to teach your child how to count, or learn about patterns ?

Then make your own counters!

Children LOVE to make things with their parents, as well as love to do crafts!

To make counters, get colorful pipe cleaners, yarn, or string.

Make a knot on one end and tape that end to the table. (This makes it easier for stringing.)

Either use large beads, buttons, or even Cheerios, & string 20 of them.

Next, make a knot at the end, & there, you have a portable counter.

Great to put in your pocketbook, diaper bag, or car!

Your child can make patterns out of the beads, & it is a great way for teaching colors too!

Melissa & Doug sell a large beading set which I photographed below, perfect for toddlers (lead free paint :)).

Michael’s, Target or any craft store sell the items listed above, so check them out!

The counters help the older ones with math, & is great to use for addition & subtraction homework!

Happy beading!

Want fun girly accessories for your girly girl, or tween?

Then go to!

When I was a teenager, I used to go to their store in SoHo, in New York City.

Since then, the store has closed, but they have an online shop!

Girl Props sells inexpensive trendy accessories, which girls just seem to love!

They have a great variety, & their products make great party favors too!

The sunglasses Jolie and I were wearing at the Petite Parade Fashion Show, came from Girl Props.

The Curlycue design reminded me of Paloma Picasso, & I had to have them!

Are you sitting down, they were only $6!

I have many expensive sunglasses, but when I like something, I don’t care where it is from. They just screamed, “Danielle!” 🙂

It is fun to be unique, and choose things that appeal to you!

Want a great selection of sneakers for boys that are cool & hip?

Then head to the Kids Shoe’s Section at Nordstrom!

While looking for shoes for the fall for my son, I stumbled upon the kids department and had the, “Wow Factor”!

They had such a great selection of sneakers & high tops, amazing colors, & I actually couldn’t make up my mind!

Check out their website, for sometimes they have more of a selection, on the web, at

Buyers vary different selections in each store, so that is why online you might find more, then in a department store FYI ;).

Happy shopping!
